During the meeting, President Lomel\u00ed underscored UNAM\u2019s dedication to fostering stronger ties with China through academic mobility programs, cultural exchanges, and joint research initiatives. Reflecting on the enduring partnership between the two nations, he outlined a vision for deepening collaborative efforts. Minister Huai emphasized the role of education in fostering mutual understanding and advocated for the expansion of student exchange programs and the development of new scholarship opportunities.<\/p>\n
Minister Huai praised UNAM\u2019s global reputation and contributions to Mexico\u2019s science, technology, and humanities development. He reiterated China\u2019s commitment to educational collaboration, citing successful partnerships with institutions like the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.<\/p>\n
In a related effort, UNAM\u2019s Coordinator of International Affairs, William Lee Alard\u00edn, conducted a working visit to China to bolster the university\u2019s academic presence. This included signing strategic agreements with the Beijing University of Science and Technology to promote joint engineering and science projects, student mobility, and the Center for Mexican Studies development.<\/p>\n
Key agreements also included initiatives to enhance Spanish language instruction at Beijing Foreign Studies University and renewed collaboration with Tsinghua University, focusing on sustainability and climate change solutions. During his visit to Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), Lee Alard\u00edn reaffirmed UNAM\u2019s commitment to Spanish language education in China and strengthening the Center for Mexican Studies. BFSU Vice President Jia Dezhong commended the partnership as a model for international cooperation.<\/p>\n
The itinerary also included meetings with the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) and Tsinghua University (ranked second in China by QS Rankings) to discuss potential collaborations on climate change and global management. Additionally, Tsinghua University invited UNAM to join the Carbon Neutrality Consortium, further underscoring their shared commitment to sustainability.<\/p>\n
