UNAM and Herbert H. Lehman College, NY, Sign Cooperation Agreement
During the New York International Book Fair, Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas, President of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and Fernando Delgado, President of Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York, signed an academic and educational cooperation agreement. This accord aims to foster mutual understanding between the two institutions.
The agreement includes the exchange of faculty, researchers, and students, along with the implementation of summer schools, faculty programs, joint research initiatives, conferences, and workshops. Each strategic component will be formalized in specific agreements in the near future, with the overarching agreement set to remain in effect for five years.
At the signing ceremony, President Lomelí highlighted the opportunities this collaboration presents for students and academics, emphasizing the importance of establishing synergies between the communities of both universities. “We are actively encouraging collaborative possibilities,” he stated.
President Delgado expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that it will benefit both Spanish-speaking and non-Spanish-speaking students and faculty. “I envision a highly promising future for this relationship,” he remarked.
This agreement marks a significant step towards the internationalization of both institutions, strengthening academic and cultural ties between UNAM and Herbert H. Lehman College.
