UNAM and Spanish Institutions Strengthen Academic Ties
The “Sin Fronteras: Second Meeting of Mexican and Spanish Scientists” seminar was held to strengthen academic cooperation between UNAM and Spanish research centers. The event was organized by UNAM’s Spain Campus in collaboration with UNAM’s Scientific Research and Humanities Coordination Offices, with support from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and other Spanish institutions.
From October 15-17, over 30 specialists from UNAM and their Spanish counterparts gathered in Madrid to discuss joint projects across various fields, including medicine, neurobiology, music, biochemistry, and social sciences. Sessions were hosted at prominent venues such as the Ramón Areces Foundation and the Cervantes Institute.
Building on the success of its inaugural 2022 edition, this meeting marked a significant step in fostering collaboration between the academic communities of both countries. Its multidisciplinary approach, encompassing the humanities and social sciences, encourages innovative partnerships and creative exchanges.
The 2024 edition expanded its scope, incorporating a wider range of humanities and social science disciplines to promote cross-disciplinary engagement. The event also underscored Mexico’s prominent role in global research, noting the substantial presence of over 250 Spanish scientists currently working in Mexico.
