Exchange Students from 22 Countries and Mexican States Join UNAM

For the Spring 2025 semester, UNAM welcomed 298 exchange students, reaffirming its reputation for academic excellence and global appeal.

In a video, President Leonardo Lomelí expressed the university’s gratitude for the students’ unique perspectives and experiences, emphasizing how their presence enriches the academic environment and fosters intercultural understanding.

The group includes 163 students from 22 countries and 135 from 23 Mexican states.

William Lee Alardín, Coordinator of International Affairs, highlighted the importance of international collaboration in addressing today’s global challenges. He noted that UNAM’s student exchange programs actively promote such cooperation.

Francisco Suárez Güemes, Director of DGECI, emphasized the wide geographical representation, with students from countries such as Peru, Germany, the United States, and Japan, as well as strong participation from Mexican states like Oaxaca and Chiapas.

With 57 percent of participants being women and 43 percent men, the program reflects UNAM’s commitment to diversity and gender equity. By fostering international learning and cultural exchange, UNAM strengthens its position as a global leader in higher education.
