ACCIÓN MIGRANTE: UNAM AND MEXICO’S FOREIGN MINISTRY JOIN FORCES
Following an agreement signed last December, UNAM and Mexico’s Foreign Ministry have launched Acción Migrante, an online platform providing legal and psychological support for Mexican migrants in the U.S. and returnees to Mexico.
Available at accionmigrante.unam.mx, the platform provides guidance in two key areas: legal assistance and psychological support, both delivered by UNAM specialists. The initiative is supported by UNAM’s five U.S. offices in Los Angeles, Tucson, San Antonio, Chicago, and Boston, as well as its northwest office in Tijuana and Mexico’s 53 consulates across the U.S.
UNESCO Recognizes Historic Indigenous Manuscripts Preserved by UNAM
Two colonial-era manuscripts, written in now-extinct Indigenous languages and preserved at UNAM’s National Library of Mexico (BNM), have been added to UNESCO’s prestigious Memory of the World program.
These manuscripts are invaluable linguistic artifacts that provide rare insights into cultural exchanges during the viceregal era.
Puma Summer in Paris: French Language and Culture at the Sorbonne
UNAM’s French campus, in collaboration with the Faculty of Letters at Sorbonne University, has announced the fourth edition of Puma Summer, an intensive French language and cultural immersion program in Paris from July 7 to 25, 2025.
Designed for students looking to enhance their French proficiency while experiencing the vibrant cultural life of the French capital, the program includes 54 hours of instruction led by specialists from SIAL, Sorbonne University’s language learning service.
Lettinga Award Honors UNAM’s Innovation in Environmental Biotechnology
A team of researchers from UNAM has received the prestigious Lettinga Award, one of the most renowned honors in environmental biotechnology.
The team—Julián Carrillo Reyes, Alejandro Vargas Casillas, and Iván Moreno Andrade—from the Institute of Engineering, Juriquilla Campus, was recognized at the 18th IWA World Conference on Anaerobic Digestion in Istanbul, Turkey.
Florence’s Prestigious Arts Society Honors UNAM Professor
UNAM’s artistic excellence continues to receive international recognition. Óscar Ulises Verde Tapia, a professor at the Faculty of Arts and Design, has been named a distinguished member of the Fine Arts Society, Circle of Artists at Casa di Dante in Florence.
Founded in 1843, this institution is the oldest arts society in Italy and remains a prestigious cultural landmark.
