Spanish Academy of Veterinary Sciences Welcomes Susana Mendoza Elvira

In an interview, the researcher from the UNAM Cuautitlán campus described the recognition as a great honor and a source of immense pride. “Securing admission is very challenging; even with an established career and membership in other academies, one must undergo a rigorous evaluation,” she explained.

‘’Although I am a pharmaceutical biochemist by training, my entire career, from my social service onwards, has been dedicated to veterinary medicine and animal science, specifically working with pigs. This focus continued through my master’s degree, doctorate, and two post-doctoral studies. It’s a tremendous honor to be the first from my field to join this prestigious institution,’’ she affirmed. While other Mexicans and UNAM academics have been admitted to the RACVE, until now, they have all been veterinarians by training.
