Acclaimed Film Editor Roberto Perpignani Visits UNAM’s School of Cinema
During his visit, a screening of Bernardo Bertolucci’s “Before the Revolution” (1964), a film Perpignani edited, was held. Following the feature, the Italian editor delivered a masterclass, sharing his insights into the art of film editing.
Perpignani’s career began in 1962 as an assistant editor on Orson Welles’ “The Trial.” His first credit as lead editor came with Bertolucci’s “Before the Revolution.” Throughout his distinguished career, Perpignani has received numerous accolades, including three David di Donatello Awards for Best Editing: in 1983 for Paolo and Vittorio Taviani’s “Night of the Shooting Stars,” in 1995 for Michael Radford’s “The Postman,” and in 1997 for Roberto Faenza’s “Marianna Ucria.” Additionally, he was honored with the Bianchi Award at the 53rd Venice International Film Festival.
