Rincón UNAM: A Cultural Bridge at the University of Mumbai, India

The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México inaugurated its first Rincón UNAM in India, located within the Knowledge Resource Centre at the University of Mumbai India.

This new space is designed as a hub for students, academics, and visitors, offering access to various academic and cultural resources from Mexico.

Visitors can explore UNAM materials, including audio recordings, videos, books, lectures, and courses, all freely accessible through QR codes. Rincón UNAM is organized into four thematic areas: Culture, Academia, University Resources in English, and a section dedicated to University Media.

One of the most notable resources is the Descarga Cultura UNAM platform, which allows users to listen to and download Mexican and Latin American literary works, as well as world literature classics, narrated by their authors or professional voice actors.

The establishment of Rincón UNAM was made possible through collaboration between UNAM and China, led by Adalberto Noyola, and the Consulate of Mexico in Mumbai, under the initiative of Consul Adolfo García Estrada. During the inauguration, University of Mumbai Vice-Chancellor Ravindra Kulkarni commended the initiative, emphasizing its potential to enhance the academic offerings of one of India’s most prestigious universities, which boasts over 800,000 students and offers Spanish language courses.

Rincón UNAM serves as a window into Mexico’s rich cultural and academic heritage, provides a valuable resource for Spanish language students, and marks a significant step towards greater international collaboration.
