Five-time Academy Award winner Francis Ford Coppola is set to receive the UNAM Film Archive Medal in recognition of his invaluable contributions to world cinema.

The prestigious award ceremony took place on October 22, just before the screening of his latest film Megalopolis. This honor coincided with the Morelia International Film Festival’s Award for Artistic Excellence, marking the first time Coppola has received dual awards in Mexico.

”He is an essential figure in independent filmmaking, someone who has maintained artistic autonomy while building a remarkably expansive and versatile career. In each of his films, he invests a piece of his heart and soul,” remarked Hugo Villa, Director of UNAM’s Executive Office of Cinematographic Activities (UNAM Film Archive), reflecting on the celebrated filmmaker’s career.
