Beijing Congress Showcases UNAM’s Excellence in Film Education
Representatives from UNAM’s National School of Film Arts (ENAC) participated in the International Association of Film and Television Schools Congress, hosted by the Communication University of China in Beijing.
At the congress, filmmaker Juan Mora was honored with the Teaching Excellence Award for his more than 40 years of dedication to film education. While the award was originally announced in 2019, the presentation was delayed due to the pandemic.
The UNAM delegation also included ENAC Director María de los Ángeles Guadalupe Castro Gurría and filmmaker Alfonso Coronel, who explored potential collaborations with the Communication University of China, particularly in animation.
Currently working on his directorial debut, Coronel took part in two sessions at the congress. In one presentation, he discussed the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in his documentary ”La Bola”, which examines the Mexican Revolution. This groundbreaking project is the first university-produced film in Mexico to use AI for colorization and resolution enhancement.
