Eighth Edition of UNAM Internacional

The eighth edition of UNAM Internacional magazine has been released, focusing on “University, Humanities, and Society.” Francisco Suárez Güemes, Director of the Office for International Cooperation and Internationalization (DGECI), emphasized UNAM’s pivotal role as a mediator between knowledge production and practice. He highlighted the impact of disciplines like philosophy, literature, law, and cinema on driving social transformation.

This issue commemorates two significant anniversaries: the centennial of the Faculty of Humanities (FFyL), a cornerstone of Mexico’s cultural and academic life, and the 80th anniversary of the UNAM Extension School in San Antonio, Texas. Mary Frances Rodríguez Van Gort, Dean of the FFyL, underscored the enduring value of the humanities in today’s technology-driven world. She noted their importance as tools for understanding and contextualizing scientific progress.

The publication explores the humanities’ contributions to addressing local and global challenges through ethical and critical lenses. It highlights the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in creating solutions that benefit society.

This latest edition of UNAM Internacional celebrates academic achievements and also reaffirms the University’s commitment to fostering critical thinking and cross-cultural dialogue. Through this publication, UNAM continues to strengthen its role as a bridge between Mexico and the global academic community, showcasing its contributions to worldwide progress.
