UNAM Chicago Boosts Global Degree Completion

The UNAM Chicago campus, in collaboration with the Office for International Cooperation and Internationalization (DGECI), has supported 17 graduates through the Program to Promote Degree Completion for Academic Activities Abroad (PITAAE). Backed by UNAM’s Program for Alumni and Retired Faculty (PVEAJU), this initiative enhances participants’ English proficiency while enabling them to apply their expertise in international contexts.

Francisco Suárez Güemes, Director of DGECI, expressed his gratitude for PVEAJU’s financial support and encouraged UNAM alumni in the United States to contribute through donations or by offering internship opportunities. This initiative highlights the pivotal role alumni play in advancing higher education and fostering professional growth.

Among the 17 participants in Chicago, 13 have either completed their degrees or are nearing graduation, securing internships at renowned institutions such as the University of Illinois, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago. These placements exemplify the program’s success in equipping graduates for global professional environments.

Guillermo Pulido, Director of UNAM Chicago, emphasized the program’s significance in supporting degree completion and praised Francisco Suárez and his team for their leadership. He also praised the program’s hybrid and distance learning formats, which promote inclusivity and broaden opportunities for participants.

Through initiatives like these, UNAM reaffirms its commitment to preparing graduates to succeed in a globalized world, further solidifying its reputation as a leader in higher education and international engagement.
