Generative AI Course Recognized with Global MOOC Award
The massive open online course (MOOC) Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Classroom, developed by UNAM’s Open University and Distance Education Coordination (CUAED), has received the prestigious Global MOOC Award (GMA).
The award was presented at the Global MOOC and Online Education Alliance Conference in December, a global forum where institutions share insights on professional development and educational innovation.
The course, recognized for its impact on higher education in the digital age, helps educators integrate generative AI tools into their teaching. Guadalupe Vadillo, Director of Online High School at CUAED, emphasized that the course encourages teachers in Mexico and beyond to experiment with AI to enhance their daily instruction. She noted that generative AI removes traditional barriers, such as reliance on specialized technical support in tech-driven education.
Adrián Sarmiento, Coordinator of Academic Research and Innovation for Online High School at CUAED, highlighted that the award validates their efforts to integrate cutting-edge technology into education and inspires other institutions to do the same.
The success of Generative AI in the Classroom reflects CUAED’s commitment to educational innovation and faculty development. Beyond its immediate impact, the course sets the stage for a future where AI plays a central role in making education more inclusive and accessible.
