UKRAINIAN SOLDIER RECEIVES NEW PROSTHESIS FROM ENES JURIQUILLA

Sergey, a 25-year-old Ukrainian, worked as an electrician in a mine back in his home country. In February 2025, like many others, he joined Ukraine’s defense efforts amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia. He participated in several military operations across the country until November 11 of the same year, when he stepped on a landmine.

Sergey initially received medical care in Ukraine, where he was fitted with two resin-based prosthetic legs. After one of these prostheses broke, he enrolled in a support program organized by the Ukrainian government and civil society organizations.

Mexico and Chile Deepen Academic Collaboration

During his official visit to Chile, Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas, President of UNAM, met with Nicolás Cataldo Astorga, Chile’s Minister of Education.

The two leaders discussed the longstanding relationship between Mexico and Chile, emphasizing UNAM’s significant influence on Latin American intellectual thought.

Combating Disinformation, Key to Democracy: Susannah Goshko

The Faculty of Political and Social Sciences (FCPyS) at UNAM hosted the conference “Beyond the Noise: Strategies Against Disinformation.”

During the event, Susannah Goshko, the British Ambassador to Mexico, warned that disinformation poses a greater threat than ever before.

Germany and Mexico Strengthen Academic Ties with Internationalization Workshop

The University Extension Unit of UNAM in Oaxaca, in collaboration with the School of Geography and UNAM’s Germany Office, launched the Internationalization Workshop between Germany and Mexico.

This initiative fosters local, regional, state, and international cooperation by establishing connections between academic institutions and government agencies.

Celebrating 50 Years of UNAM-Cuba Academic Collaboration

During the First Mexico–Cuba Scientific Conference: Half a Century of Collaboration, researchers from both countries reflected on the past, present, and future academic cooperation between UNAM and Cuba.

The event was organized by UNAM’s Center for Mexican Studies (CEM) and led by José Manuel Saniger Blesa, Secretary for Research and Development at the Coordination of Scientific Research (CIC).
