UNAM Scholars Conduct Research at Sorbonne University
UNAM faculty members completed research fellowships at Sorbonne University in France during September and October as part of the UNAM-Sorbonne University Excellence Chair program. This prestigious initiative promotes collaborative projects across the humanities and sciences.
This partnership aims to advance research across disciplines while building stronger international academic ties.
Among the researchers, Antonio Lazcano, Professor Emeritus from the College of Science, focused on the evolution of RNA genomes, particularly sequence duplication processes. Sarah Bak-Geller, from the Institute of Anthropological Research, explored Mexican-French culinary practices from the 15th to the 21st century. Ronan Le Lagadec, from the Institute of Chemistry, investigated Group 8 metal complexes for their potential use in medical diagnostics and therapies.
The UNAM-Sorbonne University Chair, established through a formal agreement in July 2021, allows full-time UNAM faculty to participate in exchange programs at Sorbonne University. These exchanges foster collaborative and interdisciplinary research that benefits both institutions.
This strategic partnership strengthens academic ties between UNAM and Sorbonne University while promoting scientific cooperation. Through joint research initiatives, faculty and students from both universities have opportunities to advance their specialized research.
