Mexico Hosts Prestigious International Cell Biology Congress

UNAM’s College of Science recently hosted the 15th International Congress of Cell Biology, welcoming over 200 scientists from 19 countries to foster collaboration, research, and innovation in health and microbiology.

Ruey-Hwa Chen, President of the International Federation for Cell Biology, highlighted Mexico’s place among global scientific leaders and commended the country’s capacity for groundbreaking innovation.

Held in Mexico for the first time, the congress showcased notable Mexican contributions to cancer research and intestinal disease studies.

The event also celebrated the 85th anniversary of UNAM’s College of Science. Víctor Manuel Velázquez, the College’s dean, underscored the institution’s strong partnerships with national and international universities, which have positioned UNAM as a leader in cell biology research.

During the five-day event, attendees engaged in numerous symposia and presentations, fostering scientific collaboration and progress while strengthening Mexico’s reputation as a global hub for cell biology research.
