UNAM has earned the 54th place globally in the inaugural Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025. This extensive evaluation analyzed 749 higher education institutions from 92 countries for their commitment to and contributions to interdisciplinary science.

As the only Mexican university in the top 100, this recognition confirms UNAM’s status as the leading institution in Mexico and across Latin America, according to rankings published by Times Higher Education in partnership with Schmidt Science Fellows.

This remarkable 54th-place ranking in the list’s first edition highlights UNAM’s dedication to tackling global challenges through interdisciplinary research and innovation.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) leads the global rankings, followed by Stanford University, the National University of Singapore, California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and Duke University.

In Latin America, UNAM (54th) leads the region, with Brazil’s University of São Paulo ranking 57th and Chile’s Pontifical Catholic University securing 63rd.

The regional rankings also include three more Brazilian universities: São Paulo State University (84th), the Federal University of São Carlos (123rd), and the Federal University of Santa Catarina (136th).
